Blogger's Block

hehehe.. hi Seok.. here's me getting my butt into action and finding something to write about. *winK* Hmm.. I was in Genting the day before, and I havent been getting enough sleep this whole week. Was out boozing in the Red Chamber (Bangsar) over the weekend, I think...Li Ean was trying to set me up with her friend, Kelvin..real sweet fella..after that we went over to Susan's place for a massive drinking session. I dont ever want to see the words "Hennessy" again.. and that turpentine dry gin that starts with a E.. just thinking about it makes me wanna puke..

On Tuesday night, Susan and I did one of the craziest things.. driving up to Genting with a bunch of high school friends.. and putting money into Uncle Lim's pocket.. heheh.. or taking, whichever you wish :P Beginner's luck never ceast its charms, huh? There were eight of us; Raymond, Yeng Yee, Bernard, Rudy, Chee Hoe, Ruby, Susan and myself.. and Yengs was totally underdressed to be into the Casino, so Raymond and Chee Hoe decided to accompany him to get the apartment room first (in Ria). At about 4 am, the rest of us went to the apartment and wanted to scare the other 3, so we sorta hid around, making sure they couldnt see us from the peephole of the room door.. me and Susan were at the corner of the block near the elevator.. 3 seconds later, Yengs emerged from the elevator, saw both me and Susan, and started screaming like madness! I was like.. "what the..??" Gosh.. talk about 3 big pussys.. he thought we were ghosts.. hahaha.. been watching too many horror movies.. (like THE EYE).. which makes getting into elevators something to be scared about!! Throughout the whole night, we could hear the guys screaming like girls, being freaked over the slightest things.. here's power to the womenfolk.. now we know who are the weaker sex!

haha.. do excuse us for the lack of updates.. we suddenly suffered from a mild case of blogger's block.. my brains are still fried from all those long nights and lack of sleep.. furthermore, today's class began at 8 am.. ZzzZzzz..nevertheless, lets look forward to our new facelift..cheerios :)

I’m back…
It’s not like I’ve been anywhere or doing anything important lately, but I feel pretty bad about the prolonged holiday from my blog. There’s just nothing much to do in JB (I am still in JB) therefore there’s really nothing much to write about. Anyway I finally finished our blog’s new layout…I got bored of this one, all white and simple, it’s too squeaky clean for me. I just need to tweak it a little bit more and in a few days time we will be bidding good-bye to Blogspot. This probably will be the last post I make here.

Yesterday I went shopping in City Square, JB with Thomas and my sis and to my utmost horror, I stumbled upon a shop called…Elise!!! If it was the name of a boutique or a café or even a pub, I probably wouldn’t have even batted my eyelids, after all there is a certain car called Elise :P. However a huge promotional banner read: Elise-permanent hair removal center! And next to those already atrocious wordings was a picture of a lady showing of her snow white, hairless armpits…Now everyone in JB will think I nick-named myself after a permanent hair removal center. Just great...

Ohh…and I watched Minority Report a few days ago. It was really first-class Steven Spielberg stuff, breathtaking effects, nail biting storyline and Tom Cruise looking really buffed. Personally the movie is worth a watch especially if you are into those science fiction flicks. However the Ah Bengs sitting behind us were dreadfully irritatingly noisy. They kept on talking during the movie and kept saying things like WahLau!! Aiyor!! when the movie got interesting. Even worst, there’s one scene where John (Tom Cruise) walks into someone else’s hotel room where there’s plenty of children pictures on the bed, the Ah Bengs where practically screaming, “This fella killed his son!!! This is the killer! This is the killer!” Geez, so irritating!!! So uncivilized!!! Dammit these people should just pop more E, and shake their brains out through their ears.

Speaking about Ah Bengs and ecstasy, I went to Sanctum, a famous “Feng Tau” joint in JB last weekend. Honestly I’ve never been to such a place before it’s a pretty new experience. When I arrived, we were lead to our “room”; there were about another 10 people already they’re mostly chatting and a few singing along to the karaoke machine. The room was brightly lit and the only music was coming from the karaoke machine, such a boring sight or so I thought. Soon more people arrived, it seems some bookie that made a lot of money from these people during the world cup opened four rooms for us (though I hardly knew most of the people). Anyway the waiters brought in jugs of Coke and beer and a while later the “stuff” arrived. Everyone happily popped the heavenly white pill and suddenly the whole room took on a new form.

The lights and the karaoke were turned off and instead techno was blasting through the speakers. The room had it’s own disco lights and the sound system was excellent, the techno too was really incredible. After a while, a bunch of Ah Bengs were dancing around the dark room and people everywhere were shaking their heads. The party got wilder and wilder as more and more people joined in the dancing. We left after about 3 hours, the loud music was bringing on a headache and I was paranoid the police would raid the place. The rest, of course, stayed on into the wee hours of the morning, till the effects of the drug wore off.

I think if I were on the drug the place would be heaven. Even in my ecstasy-less state I had a pretty good time. The only reason we left early was because the music was way-too loud. The room was just like a disco, great lights, great sound, excellent music the only difference is that it’s better. We didn’t need to squeeze with other people, I could sit on the sofa whenever I wanted, I didn’t sweat even a bit and no one was pushing or shoving. It definitely beats even the most “hottest” places in KL. No wonder none of my JB friend like any clubs in KL. In this place people can drink, get high and have fun with their friends minus the crowdedness of most popular night spots elsewhere. Of course some people want to be caught in crowded places, jam-packed with people wriggling everywhere. They want to the noticed, to be cool, to be seen wearing fancy clothes and be with the other “in” people. For such attention-deprived people, Bintang Walk is the place for you. Of course not all people who visit clubs in KL are attention seeking, there’s probably nowhere else to go; most clubs are like this. Sad ain’t it???

Well for me, I am sick of pretending I like the music in KL, I am sick of paying for pricey drinks watered-down with tap water, I am sick of squeezing in pack places, I am sick of people sweating all over me. I think I’ll wait for more places like Sanctum to open minus the ecstasy. For now I’ll stay home. It’s time to hang-up my dancing shoes…

Crocs Ahoy..!

Day 5: 04/07/2002

Today was the visit to the Croc farm.. where there were just so many of em, you'd wish that the 3 feet walls were good enough to hold them all in! The farm started out with just 12, and in 43 years, expanded to 2500 crocs and aligators. There was one which was absolutely huge.. you wouldnt wanna meet this bugger anywhere in the wild, trust me! Even his head alone orizontally was at least 1 1/2 feet wide! Scaryy!! They house this whole pond full of crocs, about 17-43 years old.. and I was wondering..was there anyone they didnt like? All they'd have to do is invite the person over for coffee, strip him naked and throw him into the pond..then watch the crocs feast.. We could pay 15,000 rupiahs for a duck to be thrown into the pond.. but NO! Ducks are cute.. imagine poor Donald trying to escape 30-40 crocodiles.. cruel cruel..

Next stop was Brastagi.. a highland some sort like Cameron, where there are many stalls selling cheap fruit. I bought 10 kgs worth of persimmons.. nget nget nget.. I can eat em like apples now! MUAahahhahaha! I also went on a horsie ride for 15,000 rupiah.. around th Brastagi Town area. Sure beats paying RM20 for a short 5 minute ride in Batu Feringghi..

I'm still quite groggy this morning.. it's Day 6 already actually. Back to KL, I'm definately going on a diet and exercise regime. This holiday is fattening me up..seldom have the opportunity to have 3 meals laid up in front of me, and I dont have to even move a muscle..except to eat! Later.. :)

Monkey me...

Day 4: 03/07/2002

Sleeping in the woods is really a different feeling.. and that too when we have electricity, with fresh river water.. ermm.. toilets provided, thank god! Woke up at 7.30 in the morning, but didnt make the slightest attempt to join the people for the orang utan feeding at 8 am. Shower was very refreshing.. COLD!! Then I went to sit near the river.. actually outside by room was already the river.. just went a lil bit further up, where there were big chairs made outta wood. Really good handwork, mind you! Then there was this monkey who came and sat beside me.. before it decided to come right out and climb on my head!! My first reaction was.. ACKKKk!! GET OFF ME!! and being defensive, it tried to nibble me.. try getting a love bite from a monkey..haha! Nahh..was ok.. not even a scratch! Bro said that the monkey must be trying to help me find fleas.. like what we saw it doing opposite the river to a local later. Shucks! What a wasted opportunity! The cutest sight was when that particular monkey took the boat ride across the river, like a paying customer. Now this is what I really call rustic living!

While packing, I stumbled upon a baby frog in my bag. Haha.. of course I screamed like mad.. and my bro jumped three feet away from it!! It was rather funny.. coz like Wai Foong says.. "Takkan.. chicken oso you scared, frog oso you scared a??" Hehe.. talked to a girl we met yesterday before leaving..her name is Jennifer, from Canada. Hope she gets well soon.. and see you in Malaysia! hehehe..that's her next destination! After that it's back to Medan city! Was in this shopping mall where bro bought his new 5510 handphone. Until this present moment, he is still playing with it! Went jogging just now.. almost got lost in this housing area.. freaky..:P Lets see what else is in stored for us tomorrow.. nite nite!

Close Encounter with the Animal Kind

Day 3: 02/07/2002

Ahh.. talk about rustic living, in Bukit Lawang, where the orang utans roam free with plenty of greens, away from the city. The ride there was utterly bumpy..thank god we changed to a Land Cruiser before embarking on the journey. Viva Le Land Cruiser!! It's like riding on a big truck, high above the rest of the people... even while sitting down, I feel I am of the taller in height as those outside!! After reaching Bukit Lawang, we did a 20 minute walk to the top, right before the Leuser National Park. The fantastic thing about it is that the park is separated from my resthouse (Losmen and Restaurant Bohorok River.. something like that.. cant really remember) by a river. No kidding! To get to the other side you would have to take the "perahu".. literally.. it's a perahu.. a wooden boat, that I think is made outta some meranti which the insides were scraped out. Errmmm.. kinda like when you eat a papaya with the spoon.. and leave the skin? Sorta like that.. that ride cost 5,000 rupiah..

Dad and I attempted to go see the orang utan feeding at 3pm, but the walk up was so tiring.. worse than that of Telaga Tujuh in Langkawi.. hehe.. it makes Batu Caves seem like chicken feed :P Sure worked up a whole lot of sweat! Daddy told them that we are natives of Medan.. if not, we'd have to pay a fee of 20,500 rupiahs per person to see the monkeys. Oh well... that was a good 30 minute exercise. Havent done any since I got here!

Later in the evening, there was an orang utan who came wondering down nearby the river.. hehe.. what a showoff.. all the people around there (mostly caucasians) were so entertained by it, they started taking out their cameras and binoculars. It was really close.. a wild orang utan, just separated by the river.. awww.. how cute.. makes u really really wanna go near them and hug em to pieces.. hehe.. and risk getting bitten :P The river water was really cold.. and occasionally I could see some people riding down with tubes. A huge original Sunway Lagoon water tub ride!! But the best is still the sound of the water.. continuous and soothing.. I could do that forever..ermm..maybe not.. I am purely a city person.. I'd most probably die of boredom in days there..

The nightlife is rather slow. I joined the locals there, where they taught me to play the traditional drum. Met some caucasians too.. makes you wonder why these people are so brave to come wandering around alone, to an alien part of the land.. brave.. really really brave.. oh yea..the bed.. well.. is really simple. My bro said that it looks like some whore center..hmm...I'll leave you guys at that!

Greetings from Medan, Indonesia

At this point of time, I am in my daddy's rented house in Medan. Went to Lake Toba yesterday after arrival from the airport. It was a major 4hours drive.. and I was in the backseat of the 4 wheel drive.. bumpy..!! Was trying hard not to puke.. hehe.. Lake Toba is one special place.. it's a lake surrounding a volcano, which died sometime ago.. sorta like a doughnut thingy? The amaizing thing is that there are people residing in the middle of the doughnut...The place changed so much since the last time I was there, but hey, that was about 15 years ago. Back then, everything was rather simple.. horses and ..ermm..cant remember much, just remember that it wasnt so developed and the horsie threw me off.. *ahacks* Watched the FIFA finals there, HURRAY BRAZIL!!! The whole town was really excited about the game.. while it was showing, it rained cats and dogs, and the electricity went off..! Everyone was like "AWWwwwwWW" but thank god we didnt miss much.. it was during Germany's attempt to score, which was replayed anyway!! Wai Foong won like 1000 bucks from that game k!! Now that's what I call good foresight!

We went around the lake using this ferry@boat, costing 400,000 rupiahs for charter. That's like 200 bucks for 3 destinations. The indonesians really know how to make money outta us tourists. Everything costs money, even if it was just 1000 rupiahs (approx 50 sen). I bought this really good buy.. a Reebok sports shoe for just 100,000 rupiahs. Only RM50!! I'd be a total idiot if I didnt make that purchase!! The biggest difference between Medan and Jakarta is the Chinese! It's easy to spot Chinese people here, unlike in Jakarta.. I could only find Chinese people in Mangga Dua.. that makes us closer to home huh?

While driving back to my dad's place, I saw this really cute pig, being transported around. A lone pig, sitting in a three wheeled motorike, someting like Batman and Robin's cart. Really adorable. The chickens here are rather thin.. my dad said it's because that they dont use chemicals.. and rarely they have the 30 day chicken KFC has.. the dogs here are short legged.. cute.. really cute. Back in Lake Toba, I saw a Scrappy Doo look-a-like.. I almost wanted to dog-napp it home with me!

I'll be here for another 6 days.. miss me already? Keep you updated.. :) Tomorrow I'd be going to some Orang Utan place.. now let me gather all courage not to bring one back home with me!
